They have torn down and fixed alot of buildings and fixed Main street . Put new parking lots in for the main st business and also on the west side at Rural King . One of the builders that was contracted to work on the old plaza behind wendys/oreillys said they will be renting out store fronts and building a Starbucks between Wendys /O'Reillys. Anyone know about this or any other rebuilding going on in Hamilton?

I'm originally from the Hamilton/Fairfield area and was up visiting a couple weeks ago. The changes in downtown Hamilton are impressive compared to when I lived there almost 10 years ago. I love the re-purposing of the Elder-Beerman building and the new brewery (Municipal Brew Works) was solid and had a good crowd. The infrastructure/streetscape improvements along High St. have really made the city more visually appealing and the park upgrades are nice.

Hamilton can fill a unique niche in the Cincinnati area as one a place for someone looking for budget-friendly urban living or families looking for a developed city/urban setting with decent public schools. It's also one of the few areas in the vast sprawl of northern Cincinnati that has a sense of place. I think areas east of the river stand the best chance of future success due to the ongoing development in West Chester/Liberty and access to I-75. The west side of the city seems to be in a slow, steady decline IMO. It is just too isolated. Finally, I would love to see Hamilton acknowledge/celebrate its large Hispanic population that although fairly large, seems to live in the shadows.

I've heard and read about the improvements in Hamilton. I'm not surprised, since that area of Butler Co. must be reaching the saturation point on cookie-cutter suburban neighborhoods. But I'm guessing progress will be kind of slow since Hamilton is so far away from interstates, isn't really on the way to anyplace, and isn't really a destination for very many.

some really good positive posts here. anyone on the street, would call you an idealist. you mean hamiltucky? hahaha!

my buddy used to be really involved with h.u.b. which i think was an acronym for hamilton urban business? but i believe h.u.b. was the organizations name. just was a bunch of hamilton yuppies who felt a connection to their city. but they were a pioneer revitalization group, not sure if they still are active.

great to hear the markings of a successful campaign. hamilton has a ton of character. and that brewery has the best water source in the world. could have a more european, old school taste. i totally know that's possible.
