Very interesting map. I see I'm one of the 20 people that moved from New Haven County, CT to Hamilton County. Looks like the only residents Hamilton County is gaining are primarily from northeast Ohio and the Detroit metro.

Default oh, wow

Fascinating map! You could play with it all day!
After I looked at Hamilton County, I just started clicking randomly on various counties around the United States. No matter what I clicked, it looked like more people moved out than moved in. So where did everybody go?!

To North Carolina, specifically Wake County (Raleigh).

A guy I worked with moved there not too long ago and another female I know moved to Charlotte. They swear up and down NC is some sort of "utopia." I like visiting but would not want to live there. I'm always amazed at the amount of Ohio plates I see down there with the county stickers 31, 18, 76, 77,and 78.

Try Austin TX (Travis County).

Every city in OH has been loosing population for the longest time - Cincinnati may have peaked in the the 1950's at around 500,000 and has been steadily loosing population (now about 330K). Austin 5 county MSA had a population of 256,000 in 1950 and in 2009 about 1.7 million!

When people claim that property values will eventually rise here, I am highly sceptical because there is no obvious influx of people to drive it.

What is perhaps more interesting is the data that accompanies this map indicating the income of those moving in and out of the area. Higher income earners are leaving; lower incomes arriving. I always look at these things with suspicion, but anecdotally at least, there seems to be some support for it. But, if true, this doesn't bode well for those who expect all of this rehabbing to occur in historic neighborhoods.
