We watched the movie last night.

Actually a fairly good flick!

Lots of scenes driving through OTR and one in (what I believe) is the arcade of the Carew Tower, I wasn't sure because it hasn't been that crowded since I was a kid 60 years ago.

I didn't tell MrsM that it was filmed in Cincy and in the early scene when they shared Graeters ice cream, she almost jumped out of her seat

Amazing Ice Cube song in that preview. Gotta watch this.

A little Graeter’s and some Skyline to wash it down.

During the interim before any new press releases for films to be shot in Greater Cincinnati, I'd like to touch on other highlights concerning local film activities...

(a) As much as I can ascertain, these are all the movies that have been shot within the metro. For a Midwestern city not named Chicago, it's an impressive list:

* RAIN MAN
* TRAFFIC
* CAROL
* AIRBORNE
* THE KILLING OF A SACRED DEER

* THE IDES OF MARCH
* MILES AHEAD
* LITTLE MAN TATE
* MARAUDERS
* IN TOO DEEP

* THE PEOPLE VS. LARRY FLYNT
* TANGO & CASH
* EXTREMELY WICKED, SHOCKINGLY EVIL AND VILE
* INCONCEIVABLE
* REPRISAL

* UFO
* THE OLD MAN AND THE GUN
* EIGHT MEN OUT
* THE MIGHTY
* THE LIFE AND TIMES OF JOHN GOTTI

* POINT BLANK
* A RAGE IN HARLEM
* THE PUBLIC
* MILK MONEY
* DRY RUN

* THE PRIDE OF JESSE HALLAM
* FRESH HORSES
* GIRL FROM THE HOOD
* LOST IN YONKERS
* A MOM FOR CHRISTMAS

* CITY OF HOPE
* DIRTY PICTURES
* MY DAYS OF MERCY
* A REASON TO BELIEVE
* HARPER VALLEY PTA

* GOAT
* KITT KITTREDGE: AN AMERICAN GIRL
* HAUNT
* ARTWORKS
* DONNEYBROOK

* BLOOD HEIST
* HILLBILLY ELEGY

(b) Ohio's motion picture tax credit - it's good to learn that the bill was renewed. Needless to say, this kind of money has sealed the deal for many a Cincinnati movie production:

(c) Hillbilly Elegy - filmed in part in Middletown, Oh. It was no secret that Ron Howard and members of the cast had made their presence known long before any shooting had begun.
Of real importance, though, is just how much this film shoot boosted the city's economy:

(d) Two upcoming film festivals - both aimed at serious film buffs...
* Cindependent Film Festival - Aug.29th-31st.

* Over-the-Rhine International Film Festival - Oct.2nd-6th.
