I will be moving to Batavia sometime between 07/17/2017 and 08/01/2017 What should I expect? My husband picked the house that we purchased. He has been in the Cincinnati, Northern KY area for sometime now. I have to decide between working at Westchester, Mason Montgomery or Cherry Grove. How is the drive between Westchester - Batavia and Mason Montgomery - Batavia around 7.45-8AM and in the evening around 6-6.30PM
I spent 13 years in the northwest suburbs of Chicago close to O'Hare and the last year in Solon,OH. My husband's opinion about Batavia is clouded by the fact that he likes Cincinnati 😊 I would like some honest and independent opinions.

Batavia is on the east side, its mostly white and "red neck" like. Expensive but youll get more land with house. 275 will connect you around town. Traffic is HORRID on 32 either east or west though. Lots of shops around Eastgate/Batavia area.

West Chester is going to take you FOREVER to get to and from work. Mason wont be so bad because its up about 5 exits off 275 to get on 71 and then up. It can be a little hectic traffic wise near 71 but not too bad. Cherry Grove would be your best choise, its near/in Beechmont, which will take you maybe 15mins to get to from batavia on or off highway.

My son lives in batavia. I grew up in Milford ( about 15min from there). I personally wouldnt move there because its Clermont County and its too much of " everyone knows everyone".

Cherry Grove will be a lot closer than West Chester or Mason. The commute to West Chester would be miserable, I'd avoid that if possible. Mason won't be as bad as West Chester commute-wise, but even that will be a chore during rush hour. Just getting from Batavia to I-275 will be a pain during rush hour, though how much of a pain depends on where exactly your house is in relation to 275. At least with Cherry Grove, you have the option of taking back roads to avoid at least some of the traffic jams on the main roads.

Batavia has grown alot in the past several years, but like the previous poster alluded to, it still has a, um, "country" feel to it. It could be a bit of a culture shock going from Chicagoland to Batavia, but it sounds like a done deal you're living in Batavia.

I try to not post responses that sound flippant, and I'm certainly no expert on Batavia, but I'm baffeled why anyone who didn't have a compelling reason to be there (I can't imagine what that is, being given a free house maybe) would choose it. As others have alluded to, it's one of the least desirable locales in the metro area for a host of sociological reasons. Cherry Grove is your only remotely convenient commute.

I think you guys are being a bit harsh. I know I would never want to live outside the 275 loop, but it's not like she's moving to Mt. Orab or Hillsboro or something. As she said, Eastgate is less than 15 minutes away and downtown is about 30 minutes, which isn't too bad.

You've obviously never tried driving from Batavia to 275 during rush hour.

She doesn't have to do that if she works in Cherry Grove.
