Thanks Hyden! Lots of changes over the years. Seeing the 1956 view is more as I remember the Manor and surrounding area. Looks like the farm had crops in at the time as well. Also, the view of 1956 looks more clear than 1968.

I have looked for pictures of this area, too, for a long time! I grew up on Ehrling Road and went to Eastwood Elementary from K-3 grades! I took the bus to and from school each day & we went through all those apartment buildings - I remember their pastel colors. I played on 71 before it was opened, and remember having to save water for the times the water was turned off during construction. OMG - Mister Softee!!! And the candy man truck, too!! Great old memories of hearing the jingly tunes & running inside to search for spare change lying around the house.

You are my age, I see - but you didn't attend Eastwood school at all, correct? I pass by there all the time, too - and my mother goes to that resale shop all the time! It started in a little house by the school on the other side of the road and I remember my mom taking me in there to search through clothes! I was 5 in 1969, too.

Thanks! Yes, it's a trip. I found this post by mistake and I'm happy that I did. I'm on 71 going north & south all the time and not once have I seen the big 5/3rd building and not thought about the apartments that used to be there. I have pictures only of my street - Ehrling Road. My parents bought a brand new house on that street - 5549 Ehrling Road in 1962 or 63, I think. I went to Eastwood from K-3 grades. I drive up that street sometimes, too. It's depressing

We're glad your mistake brought you to this thread. The more, the merrier. I moved to the Manor in the mid-50s and was at Eastwood Elementary the first year it opened. Have you looked at the old aerial photos of Stratford Manor that Hyden was talking about? You can zoom in, zoom out, scroll around, and select the years 1956, 1968, and 2004.

Yes, it's kind of sad the entire place is gone without a trace. But nothing seems to last forever. But there are still photos, etc., here about the place, and it's a lot of fun seeing some of those old images again. Brings back some great memories.
