This makes much more sense now, thanks!

There are definitely things you are going to miss from California -- sunshine, beaches, ethnic food etc.
But then, there are things I miss about Cincinnati after moving back to California. Four seasons, spacious parks, stately houses, hills and the Ohio river, the Midwestern "vibe" and even the rust belt blight -- the city does have a certain charm that makes me nostalgic of my time there.

Keep an open mind and you will have a swell time.
Nice to hear from someone from California. I'm definitely looking forward to the new Great Lakes/Midwest culture. How was your actual moving process? We're driving...so it's a tough (and long) road ahead.

Good tip. I saw many nice-looking places around the Hospital while browsing apartments online, but I ended up skipping them since they're located in Avondale, which I heard is a touchy area.

Nice post and good observations about the city.

Good luck. I've lived in this area almost all my life and I can't wait to leave. There's a lot to love about this city and the surrounding area, but there's a lot to not love, too.

If there's one thing I'd take with me when I move, though, it's Gabby's in Wyoming, which is about 20 minutes away from Downtown if you take I-75. Absolutely amazing food and the owner is a stand-up guy.

Like what? I'm curious since you are posting on a Cincinnati forum where either the majority of people live here or are thinking of relocating here.
