I agree completely with JSTN. Many of the rankings seemed very odd to me. Shouldn't relocation value be based on numbers, rather than criteria? If large amounts of people are moving into an area, then there must be a great reason for relocating...or it wouldn't be happening. Right?

The areas of the country that are experiencing great growth, and I do mean great growth, not just some growth, obviously are offering something more.

Here's why that list, just as all lists, is so subjective:

Charlotte dethrones Asheville, N.C., as best place to live - MarketWatch

On the list put forward by the original poster Charlotte was ramked 22nd.

bogus list. cincinnati is a much cheaper city for the old world city culture than say boston or philly, but it doesn't offer the same amenities. the nightlife is mediocre because while cincinnati has the strips and squares already, most are either in bad areas or in ritzy areas joe cincinnati isn't going to feel comfortable in. chicago is successful because they have a large middle class. cincinnati's is one of the tiniest by percentage in america, and it reflects in the city's problems.

Not that I dispute the validity of the list, or the fact that Cincinnati is a great place to live, but I wouldn't believe Channel 5 if they told me the sky was blue.

Actually in Ohio, it is often rather gray.

haha on that one, ohiogirl. how about channel 9?

this is why cincinnati isn't nationally competitive. the city/county is ran by idiots.

Deputies To Supervise Litter Patrols In OTR - Cincinnati breaking news, weather radar, traffic from 9News | Channel 9 WCPO.com

otr needs litter patrol, not deputies prodding around a chain gang. not on the level of the panhandling law or the piddling weed law, but it's stupid things like this the city can't stop doing. it's bad enough cincinnati's on a short list of cities that greet you with a slum as you exit the cbd, but this puts it over the top.

This is a great idea. For every shift the inmates work, that is one less day they are incarcerated, so a 8 hour shift saves the county about $65 in time they don't need to hold the inmate. If you have six inmates you save $500 + the salaries of whoever was going to have to be paid to pick up the litter

inmates walking around otr is good? downtown can't afford any more image issues. you don't see chain gangs in neighborhoods, you see them on highways and back roads. you don't go to atlanta or boston and see sheriffs marching around inmates a stones throw from downtown.
