Hello,

I am possibly relocating to the Cincinnati Metro area. I will be working in Erlanger and was looking for options on where to live. I am in my 30's and single but have a horse that will be making the move with me. I would ideally like to be close to work but also close to a good horse boarding stable.

I'm not sure what side of the river I want to live on. I've looked in Hyde park and Devou Park area of covington. any ideas. Most likely going to rent for the first 6 months to a year.

Any recommendations would be helpful.

Thanks.

I'd stay in Kentucky, south of Erlanger, even ... maybe Walton? I'm not too awfully familiar with the area, but couldn't imagine that there wouldn't be horse boarders nearby.

Default Horse Country

Walton, Union, Burlington are all good areas to investigate. Depending on your drive time requirements you could go as far south as Dry Ridge and Williamstown.

Both Burlington and Union have boarding stables. Burlington has far more rental properties, but Florence is only a few miles from Union and it has all kinds of rental units.

Here are a few stables you may want to check out:

Burlington - Boone Co, Daydream Stables, 4104 Bullittsville Rd, KY 41005, Tel: 859-586-1897 - Horse Boarding, Riding Lessons, Training, Trails

Burlington, Lookout Hills Farm, 3300 Burlington Pike, KY 41005, Tel: 859-816-9395 - Full Board, All Breeds, English & Western, Riding Lessons, Indoor & Outdoor Arenas, Transport, 5 Acres

Union - Boone Co, Canterbury Hill Equestrian Center, 3383 Hathaway Rd, KY 41091, Tel: 859-384-3421 - Full & Partial Board, Overnight, Layups, Layovers, English, Riding Lessons, Clinics, Hunter/Jumpers, Training, Showing, Horses for Sale, Indoor & Outdoor Arenas, Transport, Jumps

I am sooo waiting for the "OTR crew" to show up in this thread and make some recommendations based on the fact that there are plenty of cops on horses in the area. (j/k)

Unless you can afford to stable in Indian Hill, there isn't much in Hamilton county for horses. Warren and Clermont may offer more options on the Ohio side, but you are best off in Kentucky. Independence is a great city that can offer very close proximity to stables and has an easy express bus route & straight commute into town down limited access Ky-17. Burlington and Union are also decent options, but I find their roads to be more congested than Kenton County.
