Being new to SW Ohio and being that it is taking longer to find a job here than I anticipated, I thought about doing some volunteer work one day a week or so. It would be a good way for me to get out of the house (getting bored now!) and meet some people, as I do not know anyone other than my husband here! We are in Warren county. When I went to the volunteer match web site -- or something like that-- about 80% of the volunteer opportunities listed in Warren county were for age group 55+ and I'm not there yet! Any suggestions on where to look? I am interested in anything clerical, or helping people, etc. I was in sales and account management, marketing, customer service, administration, etc. for many years. Suggestions are very much appreciated!

Give Back Cincinnati is a great group of young professional volunteers...I would look them up. They do a lot of amazing things in the City.

Hartwell Girl- Give Back Cincinnati looks like a great organization, unfortunately it states it is geared for 18 - 35 year olds. I'm older than that (but not to the 55+ age!).

Any other ideas? Thanks!

Try keep Cincinnati Beautiful (KCB) and let them know what area you are from and they can problem find you a couple good contacts in the area. KCB particpates in the big clean ups in April & October (THe Great AMerican Clean Up and Make a Difference Day) and they have contacts for a lot of neighborhoods. There is always help needed not only during those events but organizing them as well. Good luck to you! I love a great volunteer! I have found that volunteering makes me a happier person.
