Another good article that goes beyond the usual tourist stuff. And this

and one of the country's biggest Oktoberfests, where people willingly don lederhosen and do the Chicken Dance totally unironically
made me chuckle.

Thanks for the link.

ETA: Did y'all see that Yellow Springs was mentioned as one of the best small towns in the article? If you've never there, it's worth the drive.

I've also heard good things about Yellow Springs but never been. I'll have to check it out.

Not sure about the economy in Yellow Springs though, as the article mentions Antioch College closing.

Actually, Antioch's re-opening in 2011, although enrollment will be small, at about 600 students for the entire school.

However, Yellow Springs is well-established as the Dayton area's liberal haven, making it a town of high-powered people, such as Dave Chapelle, and also making it a great place if you want to live in a section of southwest Ohio where drug laws don't apply. A lot of Dayton's arts and other more creative scene is actually over here, making the city direct competition of Dayton's creative class that's located in places like the Oregon District. It's a lot of the reason why the Oregon District is also not able to stack up against Mount Adams, Short North, University Circle, etc. (along with other eclectic Ohio urban 'hoods).

Or maybe it's not....... anyways, yeah, it's a really cool town. If y'all haven't been yet, you should definitely go!!!

Didn't Dingleberry's move to Yellow Springs? I used to spend at least three-quarters of my discretionary income at the old store.

And I can sing the "dingle bears" jingle for you, if you like. A smile and a laugh, indeed.
