I figured these 2 might be comparable, I have been to both and they seem around the same size from what I can remember.
I think New Orleans is impressive for a poor smaller city.

NO-

Phoenix-

New Orleans .

I really like both cities, Phoenix's skyline isn't bad at all in my opinion but it feels weird to see that skyline for the 5th largest city in the U.S..

I'd say they are equal. If you pulled up each downtown and dropped it in the other city I don't think anyone would notice.

Now a skyline is one thing, but their downtowns couldn't be more different. I think people in New Orleans would notice that they no longer have the French Quarter, Bourbon Street, Jackson Square, etc. Phoenix doesn't have anything comparable to those things by a long shot.

I was thinking if the 2 cities were the same size, we might not notice much difference in the skylines.

and NO is poor so how do they build such a nice skyline, maybe they can give ABQ some tips.

You forget that NOLA is an old city, at one time one of the nation's largest. So it's got a good head start, and you've also got the energy sector and the port.

I live in Phoenix and we are weak in the skyline department but I don't think the skyline is ugly at least. Smaller cities are building taller and taller while we are still afraid to build higher. How the hell can Oklahoma City build a 900 foot tower while we (supposedly the 5th largest city in the U.S.) can't even get a building past 483 feet?!!!!

By the way here are some more pics of Phoenix

This picture is a little old but you can see how spread out our buildings are
