I know some of these states in the listed Regions may be border line on what region they should be in. Just accept it being that the states were grouped according to general location, cultural influences. It is not a perfect list.
That being said which region do you feel is the MOST UNAPPRECIATED by people based off the following:
Cultural Influence
Economic Influence
Media Attention
National Beauty
Educational Institutions
Overall Contribution To The United States as a whole

Probably the Great Lakes region. The North East and West are great, and duly recognized as such. I think that in the Great Lakes region, you have several major cities (not the least of which is Chicago) that account for media attention and economic influence, and a lot of natural beauty. I'm not sure about educational institutions, but I'm sure there are some good schools up that way, what with so many major cities there.

Cleveland, Buffalo, Green Bay, Milwaukee, Rochester, Toronto (admittedly Canadian, but part of the region none the less), Detroit, etc. Only a few 'world' cities, but many large and regionally important ones.
I should also amend my previous post: Despite not being quite as high profile as the North East or the West, the South East gets plenty of recognition as well. I think this is really between the Great Plains and the Great Lakes.
I actually think all are under-appreciated on certain criteria. In the NE oustside of NY many cities are underrated - but the other areas of the NE are often overlooked and have some great non urban areas that get overshawdowed.
I agree overall the midwest is least appreciated, especially Chicago or places like Cleveland
The SE is overrated and underrated probably the most

Florida, Georgia, and the Carolinas are included in the SE.
People totally ignore this huuuge portion of our country that provides a lot of our food.
