Well I posted on the Illinois forum already... but maybe this is a better place for my question. I can rephrase it a bit: I am a lifelong New Yorker (hetero female early 30s) and I am moving to Carbondale in southern Illinois. Does anyone have any idea of what might be helpful for me to know about dating in the area? I know it's a college town, and people tend to get married earlier in rural areas...esp. compared to NYC. I haven't had wonderful luck dating in NYC which I feel is not very relationship-minded (all my female cousins are married now to guys from Long Island or even, Brazil! Ha!). The only guys who seem to take dating seriously live in the surrounding suburbs). Anyone know anything specific to the area of southern Illinois that could help? I'm not desperate for a husband or anything but a serious boyfriend who treats me well would be nice for once. I am attractive and nice and smart and all that.... not really interested to hear about the culture shock aspect or hating on NYC (cause I don't). Just info from people's dating experiences in southern Illinois and how I may be perceived there, what I might need to know etc.

Sorry, but cross-posting isn't allowed.

The Illinois forum is the proper place for your inquiry, and your post will remain there, but city-vs-city is not the appropriate place for this per the room sticky guidelines.
