Let's get down to the nitty-gritty..

For those experts of Chicago and Philly, let have some pics of the very worst neighborhoods that these 2 cities contain. How about some pics of innnermost North Philly , with corresponding shots of Chicago's South Side, and we'll see how they compare.

Just curious..

I smell a somerville vs Hoboken thread

Thanks for posting. I missed this the first time around.

Two of the worst areas (especially visually) in the country. I propose we do not

LOL. Philadelphia has too many to count. It's not even that they are all violent. They just look bad. I mean really really bad. Like make you want to vomit bad. If you've ever seen the show, "It's Always In Philadelphia," my best friend from high school's mother looks exactly like Mac's mom, and she sits on a beach chair on the sidewalk and smokes cigarettes all day. They have astro-turf for carpet. Philadelphia has a lot of super crummy, tacky disgusting looking neighborhoods. Just keeping it real.

As far as the worst neighborhoods in the city, there's the Badlands, Nicetown, Tioga, Strawberry Mansion, Stingers Park, and sections of Southwest Philly.

True, suburb and city are not always the best of terms. In almost any metro u can find "urban" suburbs. However, Chicago's area stretches for a considerable amount of area as compared to Boston, and even to Philadelphia, at comparable (higher) density.

LOL I love how New York City is now completely absent from the comparison.

What is the worst neighborhood of New York City? East Harlem?

Some areas of the Bronx and Brooklyn would be pretty bad

As an aside most the NYers will probably not like that philly is being compared to NY - hence the low volume of NY noise, god forbid
