As a result, Columbus continues to flourish and maintain a very stable and healthy economy.
Add to this, the city has a very diversified economic base, and it also has a very large government
presence with city, county, state and federal installations located in the city and metro.
I asked about public transport: rails and buses not freeways. Freeways contribute to sprawl, pollute the environment and waste energy. They support unsustainable methods of transport.

Lol! Freeways are absolutely essential especially with inter-state/city trade. How the hell are you gonna get from place to place? Go offroad ridin' yall? You're hilarious.

Freight rail and passenger rail work well in Europe, Asia and the rest of the world.

The more oil we use, the more we pollute the environment through drilling and exhaust fumes. We also are shovelling vast bucketoloads of money out of the United States, England and other European nations and into the hands of very corrupt Middle Eastern theocratic states.

It's in our best interest to invest in rail and keep the money in our own nations.

If I'm not mistaken the US and Canada hold over half of the earth's accessible oil, so we'd be killing ourselves in the process.

What exact purpose do you feel that freeways are for?? ( CLUE: Much more than just a "Sunday Drive" out to the countryside ) LOL
They're utilized to "transport" commercial products in and out of large cities like Columbus, and throughout the country.
Yes, they also "can" contribute to "sprawl" ( growth in cities and metros ), but that's not always a bad thing.
I'd rather see a city continue to grow and flourish ( As Columbus has ), as
opposed to seeing it become stagnant and experience decline.

Minneapolis will be very prominent in this poll. Columbus has made great strides, as well.

Of course growth should not stagnate. But it should not sprawl. Growth should be dense so that people can walk to the shops or to work. Or take the train.

In another thread I posted a link on Vancouver in Canada. This is the best example of a city planned properly. Check out that skyline, which I know is important to Americans. But also check out that density at the same time!

Let me know what you think!

Right, but you can't have sustainable or progressive metros using petroleum based vehicles. That's not the way of the future, mate.

Well then I guess until NYC switches to solar powered cars they'll remain an unprogressive city then.
