There are some cities around the globe (let's say in the 100,000 to 400,000 population range) that are just plain isolated from any other populated town.

If you can think of any more go ahead and add them to the discussion. Here are some I thought of...

Anchorage, Alaska, USA

Punta Areas, Chile

Darwin, Northern Territory, Australia

Honolulu, Hawaii, USA

Windhoek, Namibia

Have you been to any of these? If so what did you like/ dislike about it?
