In some ways the other cities outperform Fort Worth, but in recent decades Fort Worth has taken off in a way I can't imagine the other cities replicating anytime soon. The economy is on fire, population growth is through the roof, the downtown has blossomed into something really special, plus within commuting distance are all the amenities it shares with Dallas (I'm not holding it against the other cities that they don't have another major city so close to them, but neither will I penalize Fort Worth for its beneficial location).
KC is probably the most charming city of the bunch, and St. Louis is probably the most urban. Memphis perhaps has the most interesting history. But among these options Fort Worth has done the best job of adapting for the present and further setting itself up for an even brighter future.
Fort Worth is your typical Texas city.....not much going on there except the cows walking down the street in that one downtown section. And the BBQ was horrible. Dallas is the place to settle in that area. St. Louis is definitely more "city" than Ft. Worth. I've been to Ft. Worth.....wasn't impressed.
I though this entire thread was either locked or deleted because I could have sworn I responded to this... so I'll just say it again:
The "cows walking down the street" is in the Stockyards, a tourist trap. Not downtown.
What is up with the St. Louis and Kansas City people getting in their feelings about this city?
the only reason that I can think of to say Fort Worth is it's proximity to Dallas so in this thread, Dallas (Fort Worth) wins with Kansas City being in Second. Now if Fort Worth had to stand on it's own 2 legs then Kansas City would get my vote.
Still don’t understand how Fort Worth was winning this thread by so much. Downtown Fort Worth is nice, but the overall core area isn’t that impressive, I wouldn’t even put it in the same box with KC or STL.

Because it's a Texas city and it's connected to DALLAS, which many people aren't admitting is the main draw to them for choosing Fort Worth.

Uh-oh...the Fort Worth posters are going to get you for saying that! Remember, pretending that a major city only 30 miles away doesn't exist and admitting that both cities benefit from being so close to each other is a major sin to them!
I get the feeling you couldn't give a damn and you ain't scared though

No, I don't give a damn. I live in DFW. It is what it is. No need to lie about it or try to downplay the facts.
I wonder how many people have experience either visiting these cities outside of downtown or living there.
I've lived in St Louis and Memphis. Visited KC on several occasion. Been to Ft. Worth once while visiting family several times in richardson. St. Louis is my top choice based upon urban neighborhoods and it being the best city for a true urban lifestyle. KC comes in s very close second place. Didn't care for Memphis at all. Ft Worth wasn't offering anything outside of DT from what I could see but that is only with one visit. I don't have a reason to go back
