Good notice, but that is why I qualified that statement with basically. A 500,000 growth in population over 40 years is more than likely representative of natural increase. It's still a positive for St. Louis though which, in my opinion, hasn't suffered as bad as it could have in big scheme of things given all the challenges the city has had over the last half century.

Hmmm...so they combined and got separated again. Interesting. Were they one CSA in 1970?

No one is crying we are merely presenting the case that metro statistical areas vary enormously from region to region due to a myriad of reasoning.

If Philadlephia were afforded the other generous 10,000ish Sq mi like Houston,Chi,Dall,Atl,Dc,La,NYC it would have a population of approximately 9 M without infringing on any other major metro statistical area.

Trenton not being in Philly metro isnt crying , its more like stating an absurdity. Theres a dozens of major roadways connecting Philadephia and Trenton which are 10-15 miles apart. The population density of Southern Bucks County which connects Philly and Trenton is extraordinarily high. But somehow there is this apparent imaginary wall that seperates Bucks and Trenton. Its a complete abomination of commons sense by the census bureau.

Houston gets to count everybody between Houston to Galveston(50 mi apart) for instance. Meanwhile Philadlephia gets to count everybody from Philly to Bucks County/ Delaware River(15 mi away).

It’s no question Fort Worth will surpass Dallas. This current skyline will look a lot different in the future. Fort Worth is not kidding about overtaking Dallas in population. The big building boom is just around the corner and Fort Worth downtown will more than double in size from the trinity river project. Fort Worth is on pace to become 2nd largest city in the state surpassing both Dallas and San Antonio.

I bet Dallas had this same outlook in 1980. NO, I don't believe Fort Worth will ever pass Dallas.
