Houston is not a mini LA, its Houston. There is nothing southern about LA (other than its in Southern California), LA is way more liberal than Houston, LA is more laid back, LA has a completely different climate and scenery, and culturally they dont have many things in common.

What they do have in common is they are both diverse/international places, they have huge freeways, palm trees, and tall buildings. That is not enough to make Houston a mini LA.

Houston IS Texas' version of LA.

We can all agree to disagree.

Houston has always reminded me of a mini-LA. From it's layout, to the Downtown skyline.

I have never heard anyone not from Houston say they thought Houston was a mini-LA.

But Im not going through this again. Think what you want.

Really, I've never made that comparison. Houston does have a monster skyline though, very impressive! They're both palm draped...

The international feel of Houston, and layout/freeway system reminds me of LA without the Glitz, Scenery, beautiful beaches and superficial people. I live in Houston and have visited LA. to me Houston feels like a cross between Los Angeles, Texas, and Louisiana.

You're not going to really hear Houstonians calling their city a "mini LA" unless they're trying to describe it to a person who's never been here before. I personally think LA is more colorful and vibrant. Houston needs a better "entertainment feel" and better mass transit to be like LA. Though you do have to admit its making strides.
