I am helping my friend who is a the head of the HS orchestra (I'm a recent graduate, now in college) plan a music tour for the schools Orchestra and Band program. They will be flying out of Sea-Tac International airport and the trip will happen either April or May. We are planning for 65 people to go and a stay for atleast 3 nights in . We have rounded the locations down to San Francisco and Los Angeles (via Anaheim).

Which city would be a better trip? What are some great group attractions in both cities?

-Cost
-Attractions
-Weather (During time period)
-Group Transportation
-Cultural activities/events
-Safety

What will a group of high schoolers do in SF? SF has bars and expensive restaraunts, which high schoolers couldn't care less for. SF is also much more dangerous for high schoolers; more bums and crime.

Your friend's high schoolers would die to visit Santa Monica (they'll probably think it's paradise.) That or Venice, Manhattan Beach, Rodando, Newport, Huntington would be best.

Seriously, LA would be best for the crowd. To put it bluntly, SF would be boring as heck to a high schooler.

San Francisco isn't particularly safe, weather is gorgeous, public transportation is excellent and semi-comparable to NYC's, and there are tons of cultural activities and events. Los Angeles has god awful public transportation, the weather is boring and it's always dry and sunny without a breeze or nice chill, crime is terrible (worse than SF), at least in SF there are many areas which are safe. In LA practically all neighborhoods which are considered safe aren't. There are cultural activities and events though, but not anything as close to what SF would offer you. For a rather intelligent orchestra group, you should go to SF. It's an interesting city, LA is not.

You sound scared!

Both are great you just have to know how to navigate them.

LA

Santa Monica promenade and pier
Hollywood
The Getty
Huntington
Walt Disney performance center
Disneyland (u mentioned Anaheim)
Catalina Island

SF

DT Union Square
SF Symphony
Golden Gate Park & Museums
Exploratorium
Fisher mans wharf/pier 39
GG bridge
Alcatraz
Bay Cruise, you could actually charter a boat with a group that size

Either but I would give the edge to LA because of the beach even though the water is cold

I think LA has infinite more attractions that appeal to high-school aged kids. Kids that age are all about the amusement parks. Are they planning to play there on their trip? I know kids in my family have all gone to Disneyland and performed there with the school groups.

LA has much more cultural attractions than SF. It's just much, much larger. SF transit isn't even close to comparable to NYC, let alone Chicago, Philly, D.C, or Boston.

Actually LA is a safer city overall than SF and has a lower crime rate. Weather is pretty monotonous in SF too.

I think LA would be better for that type of group. Both offer cultural activities and events for the students but LA also has other attractions that probably would appeal to high schoolers more so than what SF offers like amusement parks, Santa Monica/Venice, Hollywood, beaches, etc. Probably easier to get around LA on a charter bus too.
