In no particular order

Delaware
Vermont
New Hampshire
Rhode Island
West Virginia

* by the way I know where all of these states are located and their history but these states hardly cross my mind unless they are in the national news. I live in California surrounded by 36 effing million people, sometimes you lose sight of the smaller states back east.

I don't think people are actually "forgetting" a state, it's just states that are not on your mind too often.

Yeah the phrasing is weird, but it seems like they're meaning overlooked states. Some states that I think are fairly overlooked are perhaps understandably overlooked as they're rather small in population.

Delaware
Montana
North Dakota
South Dakota

Default Forget

Here's the definition of the word

1 a : to lose the remembrance of : be unable to think of or recall <I forget his name> b obsolete : to cease from doing

2 : to treat with inattention or disregard <forgot their old friends>

3 a : to disregard intentionally : overlook —usually used in the imperative <I shouldn't have said that, so just forget it> b : to give up hope for or expectation of —usually used in the imperative <as for prompt service, forget it>

So you mean forget that the state exists or that it's so different from the rest of the country that you think it's foreign?

I guess I could never really "forget" a state since I know them all and have visited 49.

If I had to name the most glossed over when I'm thinking about or discussing places, I suppose it would be Delaware. I just don't hear much about the state, and it's so small it doesn't really pop out at you on a map.

I know it's there, but I'm fairly ignorant as to their current issues and events.
