Wildwood is not like "MTV's Show" at all. It's one of NJ's hidden gems.
All the South Jersey resort barrier islands are outstanding. Nothing like North Jersey e.g. Snookie and her skebozos. The beach resorts South of Atlantic City cater to the upper and middle class of the Philly region and many Canadian tourists.Although Lately you are starting to see more and more NY, CT, tags in places like Wildwood Crest,Stone Harbor, cape may..North of Atlantic City seems to get the working class of NY area. The upper and middle classes of the NY area go to Long Island- Hamptons.

So Cal wins this battle of coasts hands down. Everything is compressed along the west coast.

The East Coast uses their coast as a summer resort. Your average beach town in the winter has a population of 5,000 people. In the summer those islands can balloon to 300,000 people.

Honestly, the only bad thing I can say about the Jersey Shore is its proximity to NYC. New Yorkers are the WORST shoobies (I know you're not all bad and it's only a certain horrible few, but when there's NY'ers around there's more trash littered about, trashiness, and general un-congenial attitudes that I am not accustomed to seeing while on the Boardwalk or other areas) and I'm glad that for the most part they stay North of Atlantic City (hope I didn't offend anyone, I just needed to go on that little rant)

Anyway, the Jersey Shore wins for me, because I love the off season and going to the beach in the middle of the winter.

You know, we have our own beach culture, there are the Atlantic Highland (but nothing like California mountains), and then we have the climate. I ENJOY having seasons at the beach, especially having the beach to myself on a cold crisp day.

I can mostly agree w/ the exception that a very large portion of upper crest NY area beach goers do indeed go to southern NJ shore points. North of AC...I wouldn't know.

The only reason ppl indulge in the jersey shore is because its closer than florida or cali. Thats it. The jersey shore is an alternativethats it

When people want to spend real money and go to a real beach. They'll opt to go to florida.South carolina, cali etc not jersey

Real beaches have tropical settings does jersey have that? f..k oudda here
I agree 100%.

For 3 months, Jersey is best, it's a carnival, but overall, has to be San Diego..

Jersey just can't compete. SoCal has the perfect beach scene. Like others have said..Jersey shore seems to me an alternative destination for a beach expirence.

This is a ridiculous comparison. The Jersey Shore is all resort towns. SoCal's coast is anchored with large cities.
