These days I'm sure it's Downtown Miami. That area has been pulling away from the other Downtowns of the South for more than a decade now. For me it wins by default just based on the sheer building density alone. Can anyone show me anything remotely close to what is in the videos below anywhere else in the South? This video doesn't even show the whole skyline and it still shows unprecedented building density for the South. It now has a full time population of over 90,000 and has the highest population density in the South by far. If you added in all the tourists to that count it would be even higher. Post some videos if you do not agree with me and let others decide.
It takes a lot more than that to have the title of "best downtown" IMO. Skylines are the least relevant factor when it comes to how vibrant and well-rounded a downtown is.

Why don't you post some examples of "vibrancy" and well-roundedness that you say exists in the South then? I'm the only one who's actually posting anything.

Yeah, if skylines mattered, then Houston would be toward the top of the list. And we all know that isn't true.

This last March, I stayed in downtown Atlanta and was pleasantly surprised at how much I liked it. I was in close proximity to the tourist attractions such as the Georgia Aquarium, World of Coke, CNN HQ, etc. People were friendly, Centennial Park was very nice and I was able to find my way around very well. I thought the city would have more of a corporate vibe, and at times it did, but there was enough things to keep it interesting and I enjoyed it.
Nashville and Savannah, GA are my other favorite Southern downtowns. Least favorite has to be Charlotte and Orlando.

My answer is New Orleans; I don't have to post pics or videos LOL. It speaks for itself.
Nashville and Charleston? Haha that's a good one. Hey I guess we all have our own opinions right? Feel free to post some videos of those Downtowns if you'd like.

It would be better if you posted pics, or add more context to your statement. When, where, how....etc. That same criteria should be asked of all cities.
