These are two great cities, first of all. Atlanta is my second favorite city in the nation after Seattle. They both have great restauraunts, museums, performing arts, etc. They also have relatively similar populations. I'm not sure on the political climate in Atlanta, but I'm pretty sure Georgia is red. These are two surprisingly similar cities in many aspects, however each city does have a one-up on eachother. IN MY OPINION, Seattle has better scenery, but Atlanta has such a rich history. It's also good to see how both Seattle and Atlanta have such passionate denizens, at least on City-Data anyway. What makes Atlanta better than Seattle, or Seattle better than Atlanta?
I would go with Seattle, because to me it has a more distinct skyline and is definitely more beautiful.
I personally think Atlanta's skyline is more distinct due to more unique buildings. Seattle really only has the Space needle...every other highrise is bland...
We have the Westin, 191 Peachtree, Suntrust Plaza, BOA tower, One Atlantic, etc.
I think Seattle has a much better urban fabric and more cohesive urban core which I love so I'll go with Seattle...it really needs a HRT system though...I'm surprised it got as urban as it did without one.

Underground light rail (subway sort of) is currently being expanded to Seattle's densest neighborhoods and should be operational within the next 10 years.
The first time I was in Seattle, people didn't seem depressed to me. I was expecting to see people jumping off buildings and bridges or crying in the corner or something. lol I guess the high suicide rate is overhyped.
