I think Boston and San Francisco are right up there with Chicago. If anything, they have a more consistant urban fabric and vibrant streetscape than Chicago, which can be choppy.
Philly looks so fun! Is this the bar/nightlife scene?
On the last ones, one is mummers parade (this below is really the Mummers Parade party, really a street party, goes all night, the cold weather version of Mardi gras in a way) and some shots after big wins on Broad street
But of those recently really only the Piazza (in No Libs is by one of the bar districts)
There are a few areas downtown that have pretty lively nightlife Rittenhouse, 12th street, South St, Old City, No Libs, Manyunk. A few pictures earlier were of those areas and some from rainrock. Plus many many Irish bars and pubs, Philly is probably more of bar/cafe city than a club lounge city, but some of that too
I am leaning toward San Francisco for number 2. But, I could see a case be made for Chicago. SF just has more of the tight packed density that I like.
Philly and Boston are are also pretty interesting, they just seem a little less developed than SF where you have DT Union Square/Chinatown/Tenderloin, and then North Beach, Haight-Ashbery, Castro, Mission District, Marina District, Union Street, Filmore Street, etc.
