I am looking to get a list of vibrant neighborhoods and places to visit when in cities.

I am looking for vibrant areas with many cafes/restaurants/bars/shops.

Please provide one from you own city and one from one you visited.

Any rationale and/or pictures are always welcome too

When I lived in Sacramento my favorite neighborhood was Midtown and still is when I visit my parents. Midtown is the central hub of Sacto's art scene and nightlife. But what I like about it is the tree-line streets that hover over Victorian houses.

I've been living in San Francisco for four years now I gotta say my favorite hood is the Mission District. Carnivals, diverse residents, and yummy Mexican food.
