Many of us choose to live where we do because of what we may like in one city that you cannot find in another. It would be beneficial if all kept to subject and more answered why they like one to another. NY is most powerful city in world, but it still does not convince all to flee to come here and live. I would like to hear from Atlantans what they like about living in Atlanta and why they choose it over any other city including NY. No harm intended from thread, just wanted Northeast/Southeast duel.

I've lived in both cities. NYC was a fun and exciting city in which to live in my 20's...it seemed like something new about it would reveal itself on a daily basis. Atlanta for me, however, has been a great place to live in middle age...better for raising kids, a more 'manageable' city in terms of COL, weather and day-to-day living. It offers plenty of shopping, dining and entertainment options. And despite the lame claims on C-D that it is 'Sprawlsville', it has some of the loveliest neighborhoods of any American city that I've seen.
The one thing I do miss terribly is NYC's theatre scene...arguably, the only city in the world that can compete in this arena is London.

Native, loyal Georgian. Not a fool. I like Atlanta better for myself but it could never compete with NYC. Everything in the world is in New York.

This is a stupid comparison, and really has no relevance at all.

The OP explained his intent in this post:

It seems reasonable to me.

Atlanta vs. Baltimore would've been a better comparison...

William P. says:

"If you do come (and I highly discourage it) my advice would be to tell you never to say, "well back in New York we..."

Nobody cares about New York here or what you did there. If New York is so great, well Delta has 13 flights a day back there. It's like saying, "back in dog turd covered hell we..."

Putting a New Yorker in Atlanta is like putting your left shoe on your right foot. Its like giving having your grandmother slip you some tongue at a family gathering. Its like rolling around in a bed of tacks then taking a rubbing alcohol bath.

The corned beef is bad here. There's no such thing as a knish in this town. Women thank men who told doors open for them here versus calling them sexist pigs. A bandana is not considered a fashion accessory here.

We think its impolite to yell at others as opposed to the right of free speech that New Yorkers think general rudeness is.

You should stay in New York. You'd really hate it here."
