Both states are quite simalar yet vastly different. NH is more business friendly and less taxing. Vermont is more liberal and environmentally friendly. Both are rural. NH is a bit more forested and Vermont has green pastures. NH welcomes stores like Wal-Mart and VT snubs Wal-Mart, however no sales tax in NH plays a big role in that. Which state do you prefer?

I'll take New Hampshire! I like the political leanings of that state. Live free or die.

Easily Vermont; New Hampshire can be very deceptive( ex. likes to trumpet its low-tax image, but has incredibly high real estate taxes). NH also has had a reputation of having political candidates with less-than-stellar reputations..
