Everyone loves to hate on New York and L.A. Whether its out of pure envy, perceived materialism/rudeness/arrogance, or personal bad experiences, New Yorkers and Angelenos take more flack than anyone else in the U.S.

Angelenos.
People from that city ALWAYS have to prove that their city belongs in the conversation. People view it as a large suburb, its not. People think everyone in LA is pretentious or fake. They're not. People think Angelenos are uncivilized. They're not. People think Angelenos are dumb. They're not.
Frankly, I love Los Angeles, really cool place. But it definitely gets way more heat than New York City. That is true.
I've always thought it was about 50-50, although I could believe that 9/11 may have changed that. I don't think its as "cool" or acceptable to hate on anything NYC-related (including the people) since that tragedy.

I agree with everything you said and a lot of the time, it is New Yorkers themselves bashing Los Angeles!

Just a side note most people aren't aware of,
The WTC was half owned by NJ and more than 25% of the deaths were NJ residents. This hasn't stopped any hatred towards NJ, and what's ironic with your whole statement is that the harshest NJ haters, are NYers (NYC)

First and foremost, I hate neither and I don't really know either.
Second, I get the impression Angelinos go "wherever the grass is greener", and invade nearby cities and towns when Sh*t hits the fan. New Yorkers can just come off as obnoxious, but stay put for the most part.
