You do know NJ has lower poverty rates, better education ratings, and a wealthier population than BOTH NYS and PA... How come NYC and Philly aren't feeding thir own state like they feed NJ -- NYC and Philly aren't "feeding" NJ, they're the ones that spilled into NJ- NYC/Philly take advantage of NJ too, don't try to claim like it only goes one way.

Oprah's the man , and Steadman is......

And what about rest of New York State?- Is that the long lost daughter Oprah left on Canada's doorstep?
Besides, you're from Georgia- Stop using NJ export Queen Latifah for ATL movies.

NYC is Oprah, NJ is Steadman, and the rest of NY state represents her subjects at Harpo Studios.

A standing army? That sounds scary!

Not sure how Michigan influences Ohio... at all for that matter. Ohio has a bigger population, a more powerful, diverse economy. That is like saying Pennsylvania influences New York. Some people on CD need to lay off the crack pipe.

I would agree that probably the western border area of Wisconsin (and ONLY this area), is probably influenced by the Twin Cities, but central, northern, and eastern Wisconsin can stand on their own. Minnesota has nothing to do with those parts of Wisconsin, nor does Illinois (except for the tourists).

Wisconsin has traditions within it's borders that are all Wisconsin.
True, Wisconsin has a very unique personality and culture, but I also think Wisconsin IS heavily influenced by both Minneapolis and Chicago, and their presence makes Wisconsin a better and more important place -- just like being close to Wisconsin makes Minnesota a better place.

California casts a huge shadow over the entire West and not just the states that border it [Oregon, Nevada, Hawaii and Arizona]. States like Washington, Idaho, Montana, Colorado, Utah & New Mexico are also strongly influenced by California. But Arizona found out this past year how much California can influence and bully another state into submission.

Could that be from the amount of Californians that live in those states? That is a serious question. I have read a lot in the Idaho and Oregon forums of the exodus of Californians into their states.

Yes, the distribution of the population has definitely had an effect on the Mountain West with considerable influx of Californians into Idaho, Oregon, Washington, Montana, Utah, New Mexico, Arizona and Nevada. One reason why the Democratic party is gaining strength in the West.
