NJPhilliesPhan, no, I don't hate Philly. I'm just telling like at it is. People made it out like to be all that, and that Philly is an international city which is really only a regional city. I'm just setting the record straight and just being brutally honest. I think Philly is an ok city, but I wouldn't want to visit that city again, but I have to for business.

Expected to like but instead found disappointing:
1. Los Angeles (pretty unimpressed w/ the whole ordeal, do like Santa Monica/Venice Beach/Malibu though)
2. Atlanta (have given several shots, closest top 10 metro to where I grew up (next closest is Miami), just not happening)
3. Boston (though I want to visit again, to give it another chance, more underwhelming as I had extremely high expectations)
Expected to dislike (at least skeptical) but instead enjoyed:
1. Omaha (surprisingly interesting downtown)
2. Salt Lake City (gorgeous surroundings, not nearly as religious or boring as I thought it would be)
3. Chattanooga (nice setting, laid back, not as country as I though it might be)
Expected to like, then liked more than I thought:
1. Chicago (growing up I knew about it, but always thought more of NYC/LA/DC/Boston, after several visits, ended up moving there)
2. San Diego (thought LA would be nicer, definitely prefer the SD area and vibe better)
3. Denver (just a real cool place, nice downtown, clean)
Expected to dislike, then disliked more than I thought:
1. Birmingham
2. Cheyenne/Laramie
3. Reno
Still trying to come to conclusion:
1. Philadelphia
2. Houston
3. Seattle
4. Boston (guess I'm still trying to come to a conclusion there as well.)
Most other places were kind of what I expected them to be such as DC/SF/Phoenix/Las Vegas/Miami etc. etc.

As for cheesesteaks, a good cheesesteak can be found anywhere in the U.S..

All of your posts make you appear as a 12 year old that has never left San Jose. I sincerely hope that is the case.

Expected more out of Miami (proper, not beach), less out of fort lauderdale.

Was surprisingly impressed with Baltimore

I think Houston is getting there for sure, rising up faster than any other city, esp in terms of big boy amenities/economy/diversity. It is big leagues already but might prove to be one of the elites in years to come (globally). It is also marketed well, one could not be a frequent traveler domestically and not see many ads for Houston.

I disagree Grapico. I think Houston is just another large city that (like Philly and Detroit) have hit the 2 million mark, and will eventually start to decline.

Yeah, Fort Lauderdale is underrated.
