I'm throwing down the gauntlet and saying Dallas, Texas is the #1 Sports City in America.
The evidence:
Dallas Cowboys (Winner of 5 Superbowls, the winningest active NFL franchise)
Super Bowl XLV @ Cowboys Stadium
Dallas Mavericks
Dallas Stars
Texas Rangers (World Series 2010)
Pacquia vs Margarito @ Cowboys Stadium (Biggest boxing event of 2010)
FC Dallas (MLS Cup 2010)
Cotton Bowl - Texas vs OSU (arguably biggest rivalry in college football)
Nascar and IndyCar (Texas Motor Speedway in Fort Worth)
MLG Dallas Starcraft 2 National Championship (probably the biggest and most watched pro-gaming tournament ever)
UFC 103: Franklin vs. Belfort
Formula 1 Dallas Grand Prix 1984-1996 (one of the only American cities to host an F1 race, F1 is now building a track in Austin)
Looking at that list, I don't even think theres another city even in the same league as Dallas.
^ You forgot the 2009 NBA All-Star Weekend at Cowboy's Arena or whatever they call that place these days. Now Dallas is the hand's down winner and since half the events you listed took place in Arlington, to be fair we'd have to say the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex is the best sports city ever.

Of course it is, I was only playing. I almost forgot that you guys are in the same boat as New York City where your team doesn't play in the actual city, but unlike Dallas, I think they actually had to do that.

With the exception of the Knicks (Manhattan) and Yankees (The Bronx) I believe you are correct. But NYC will be flipping the bill on NJ when the Nets start playing in Brooklyn soon!!
There's more to having teams being in the championship game that makes a city the #1 sports city in America. Congratulations on both FC Dallas and the TX Rangers for being in their first championship game for their respective sports and leagues. BUT, for having such a breakthrough year, the support isn't there.
(Added note, DFW doesn't care about FC Dallas, but as soon as they show some success, its something they gloat about)
TX Rangers had a magical season, yet attendence was dismal throughout the season. Ballpark attendance was a dismal 63%, and it ranked 14th. Don't have stats for FC Dallas, but based on earlier numbers, the story was even grimmer.
Currently, the Stars attendance is really bad, ranking 25th.
Sorry, but I can't call Dallas #1 best sports city, when they can't support the majority of their sports' franchises. (3/5 of the major ones)
