I'ved look through many towns/cities from Missisippi, and it looks like you're stuck in the 1950s there based on some of the signage, urban/suburban landscapes, and the like. But it's unfortunate in that it has Memphis just above its northwest corner and New Orleans just over 30 minutes from its southern border, leaving it caught in the middle. I think its just a haven for liberalphobics; not surprisingly, the lack of good industry which contains people of multiple backgrounds lessens the pressure on liberation/spread of political correctness. Most businesses in MS are either family-owned, part of a low to maybe, mid-level chain (there is NO high-end shopping in MS except for perhaps Biloxi), and is basically considered what was considered a 1950s lifestyle in the blue states now.
Any state that went RED in the 2008 election. I'll pick one: Mississippi.
