With Buffalo, the Canadian side would add about 500,000 people and Rochester is less than an hour away, with 1 million in its metro.

I would recommend Buffalo NY as I lived there you can do a lot more in STL as compare to Buffalo NY. Buffalo is a dead town " I SEE DEBT PEOPLE"

architecture could be a toss-up, but buffalo is internationally noted in the architectural community. people come from all over the world to see buffalo's architecture and that is a fact. also, location. buffalo is what, 20 minutes from niagara falls and an hour and a half to 2 hours from toronto AND is on one of the great lakes. the rest i would definitely give to st. louis. but i don't think it's st. louis times 10 in dining, architecture, or location. those three criteria could be a toss-up.

new york city has much more to offer than chicago, boston and san francisco, due most in part to the fact that it is so much larger than all of them. population actually does count for something.
