yep, that's what I've always thought. I personally preferred that they made the downtown area dense and worked their way out. How cool would it be if they connected downtown with the Galleria.... that would be mighty majestically impressive!

God, if only.... if that would happen then i would see Houston as an urban city. They oughtta build another thousand footer or something in the downtown area but that has a more signature look as well.
Those pictures reminds me of the Heights area more than anything.
I can see that. Both neighborhoods do have a lot of old Victorian style houses. Oak Park is quite a bit older than the Montrose, the Museum District, or the Heights and the architecture in the neighborhood reflect that. Honestly, it's the only neighborhood I'm aware of up north that's comparable to what you would find in Houston, so I'm sure there are better examples up north than Oak Park.
