Actually if I am not mistaken the Philadelphia area has the second biggest gas refining industry in the USA after Houston. FWIW its also the 2nd biggest gambling mecca in the country with nearly 20 casinos between A.C.,Phil.Delaware.

Walking around in a city that was built 200 years before the automobile is kind of cool.
I can recollect my impressions of both places just a few months ago and I viewed both negatively without ever having stepped foot Seattle at that. However because I work in the defense contracting/aerospace industry I have to frequent Seattle to the point where my employers have given me an apartment there. We're shifting all our operations to Seattle. I spent almost a three weeks in Seattle a few months ago and saw a city that I greatly underestimated. Its quickly becoming one of my favorite cities in the U.S. and I am grateful that I will be spending much more time there in the future, more time than my native DC.

I love Philadelphia for lots of reasons. Being close to the rat's nest and sewage that is Atlantic City isn't one of them in my view.

You will love it a lot more in summer. Unfortunately that's not much of the year, but it is so much nicer then, in my opinion. I don't mind places that get really cold winters, but places that rarely get sun except for in summer, that's hard for me.

Your credibility is shot after the first criteria question.
