Philly is maybe one of my top 5 favorite cities in the USA. But some of its boosters on here(not all of them) make even the smugness and redundant big leaguing of NY and Bay Area posters look relatively restrained in comparison... It's just a funny CityData cliché on here at this point.
I agree S.F. And Philly posters are the most outrageous. But when I make my statements, I dont go by opinion, I go by facts, or don't comment at all, because I want a nice reputation. When I finally prove someone wrong they get mad, and they say that Philly posters are the worst... When they are just wrong.

I am starting to wonder what's in the water back there.

It's pretty difficult taking someone seriously when they clearly can't discern the difference between such words as than and then.

Like it or not, proper grammar does make a difference in how well your message is communicated and the subsequent credence it's given.

Is it double in aerospace?
Is it double in high tech?
Is it a larger container port/exporter?

This is too easy.

#1 No link so invalid.

#2 YES! Forbes is an opinionated site. I cannot believe you posted a link to Forbes. Burned your credibility. Just because it growed doesn't make it #1 on the list, you see why Forbes is stupid. Thats the same as using T.L.
#3 It all depends on location.

When you get real things to brag about come at me..

Would some of these handful of ridiculous Philly posters rather have the city never mentioned on this forum? How come they are always saying things like "Stop comparing ____ to Philly". I understand some of them may not actually be from Philly but personally I probably wouldn't read these forums if my own city wasn't brought up every once and a while.

I voted Philly but Seattle continues to impress me. For some reason I have never made it up there.

Am pretty certain Philly is the larger port actually

On Tech, I believe it also has more jobs and is noted on many fronts for tech actually

What about Pharma, Finance, Education, Energy etc.

They both have their strengths

While there have been foolish comments from both ends I find much of your assertions pretty narrow personally

Okay... but we're just supposed to take garbage like this?

Quick everyone... pick on Philadelphia. Then when they try to defend their-selves let's bash them and call them homers and boosters.

The sheer stupidity of this site never ceases to amaze me.

P.S. Ice Cream Man is not from nor does he live in Philadelphia.

1. Not double... but close. Philadelphia is certainly not lacking. Lockheed Martin has a large presence in the area among others.
2. No... but again, close. People don't give Philadelphia credit for it's tech scene.
3. This is a moot point. Cities on the west coast tend to have larger container ports because of the Panama Canal situation for the East Coast. However, Philadelphia does have a larger port in general than Seattle, and has many other ports all along the Delaware which are never included into the Philadelphia port statistics like Wilmington, Marcus Hook, Camden, among others. If you look at total port activity... Philadelphia is 20th... Seattle is 36th. that isn't even included all the other ports in the metro.

Seattle
29. Tacoma- 26,282,033
36. Seattle- 23,501,372
102. Everett- 3,020,768
126. Olympia- 1,701,388

Total: 54,505,561

Philadelphia
20. Philadelphia- 35,219,613
24. Paulsboro- 30,485,654
35. Marcus Hook- 24,568,697
60. New Castle- 8,169,975
68. Camden- 7,189,253
78. Wilmington- 4,998,686
130. Chester- 1,567,455

Total: 112,199,333

I think you get the point. Plus the Philadelphia port is expanding and the Delaware River dredging is occurring currently.

Now it's Philadelphia's turn.

While Seattle is certainly not lacking, Philadelphia has a much better Medical/Research/Pharma Sector.
