i like it better than say # of ridership # of lines or anything like that.
Agreed. What is really interesting about it to me, is the extent to which some cities aren't so far behind New York as total ridership figures might indicate. Although, this could just as well be a case of too narrowly defined business districts.

Dallas and Ft Worth combined only have 80k employees? I would have though Dallas alone would be over 100k.

I don't think the downtown rail usage is particularly interesting. There is more to mass transit than rail.

For example, Houston just started its rail system, but has historically had around 27% of its downtown workers using mass transit, which was local and park n ride buses. Other cities would increase as well, but by varying amounts.

I think these charts are off in so many ways. The Dallas/Ft Worth readings are way off.
