Tampa is up there. Skate Park of Tampa holds two of the biggest competitions in Skateboarding, the Tampa Pro and Tampa Am. Its probably one on the most well known Skate parks in the world.

Orlando as well.. Central FL in general is a skating hot spot because of the year round skating weather.

Anything in Southern California is definately tops. After that, Portland and Seattle. Overall, the further west you go, the more skateboard friendly it gets. Denver, Vegas, Phoenix, and Salt Lake City are all full of skaters. The only city out east that I would say is even remotely a skater city is Philly (and maybe Miami). Austin and Minneapolis have a lot of skaters as well.

Definately not Chicago. I used to skateboard to work when I lived there and I got some crazy stares!

Truthfully I don't think that skateboard culture is any in SoCal than it is in NorCal. IMO though SF is the biggest skateboarding city in the country and there are arguably more skaters per capita in NorCal than SoCal.
