These seem like fair comparisons...

Major Population Centers:
- San Francisco, USA > Los Angeles, USA
- San Diego, USA > San Jose, USA
- Oakland, USA >
Tijuana, Mexico
- Albuquerque, USA > Sacramento, USA
- Seattle, USA >
Phoenix, USA
- Portland, USA > Tucson, USA
- Santa Fe, USA > Boise, USA
- Vancouver, Canada
> Las Vegas, USA
Northwest wins it!

Criteria:
- Scenery (Which type of scenery do you like better?)

I prefer mountains with greenery to desert and scrubland.

- Cities (Which group has more appealing cities to you?)

I prefer Seattle and Portland and Vancouver over any of the southern CA or AZ cities.

- Weather (Which side has better weather?)

No doubt, the PNW in the summer. SoCal in the winter.

- Recreational Activities (Which side has better activities?)

Highly depends on what you want to do.

- Economy (Where is it better?)

Seattle is doing relatively well compared to the nation. PNW is in general too.

- Dining/Food (Where can you find better food?)

I've had good food everywhere ...

- Diverse/Variety (Where can you find more integrated and diverse scenes?)

San Fran was really diverse when I went there. Seattle isn't as ethnically diverse, by the numbers, but asian influences greatly outweigh the relative lack of numbers, and people here just think differently.

Vancouver, BC is a mecca of diversity, more diverse than anywhere I've been in the USA. Much more so than LA or San Fran even.

- Nightlife (Where is there a better availability of nightlife options?)

I'm too old to care about "nightlife". But all I know is, legal age of drinking in Canada is 18!

- Safety (Where is it safer?)

Seattle had like 40 murders last year. Total. PNW is much safer relatively speaking.

- Education (Better collection of schools and educational scene?)

I'd argue that nowhere in the USA is really good. Canada's is better, therefore, PNW wins.

Norcal, Socal, the Norcal forests and Socal deserts, and British Columbia.

I don't like WA much, like Seattle less than the rest of Washington, and wasn't enthralled with Baja when I went.

Give me some goddamn palm trees and people who can socialize without the aid of a computer, then send me down the 1 with the top down and the stereo up!

AMEN!!!!!!! I think we are long lost brothers!

I really do not like Seattle or Portland. Both just seem so depressing and gloomy. Just can't stand them! The people are cold hearted too.

Give me sun, beaches, hot people, and palm trees anyday!

I really don't like Los Angeles. It just seems so superficial and fake. Just can't stand it. The people are fake too. Give me rain, clouds, flannel-clad people and evergreens anyday!

Give me some goddamn evergreens and people who can socialize without stopping to plump their lips then send me down 520 with the top up and the stereo at medium level.

If you like LA, then you probably won't like Seattle... if you like Seattle, you probably won't like LA. They're such different cities.

That said, people in Seattle were definitely more fake than people in LA. Flakier and the politeness was just on the surface. People often think that Los Angelenos are "fake" because they seem to be over-the-top friendly and enthusiastic compared to places like Seattle, but that's the thing - they're being genuine. They're just more outgoing and extroverted. Some people can't deal with this, but I like the energy it lends to the place.

I think that Angelinos were more fake, which is why I said that. People there could really care less how your day is, they just make it look like they care. At least Seattleites don't act like they care. Therefore, Angelinos are more fake.

Nope. Generally speaking, if someone asks how your day is in LA, it's because they actually are wondering. If they're not interested, they don't ask.

Seattle is way more fake LA wins.
