you quoted my post, implied I was showing ignorant, showing complexes, basically you were being pompous. go back to the first few posts and see if anyone just started attacking Cali??? Its the Cali posters that started being defensive and started saying nasty things about Texas, and instead of correcting them (and you could because you Texas very well), you want to stay on your high horse and pee on my parade.

And I didn't attack you, I attacked the dry roast oven of a state you live in

You know why people like California because it offers everything you could possibly want in one state. Beautiful beaches, tall mountains, skiing, tall redwoods, panoramic deserts, diverse cities, fun, plethora of different entertainment and outdoor venues.

California is far more welcoming no matter who you are than Texas will ever be.

When people ask me what I like about Texas, I truthfully tell them that most Texans wouldn't want to live anywhere else. They don't realize that I mean that in a most negative way and am glad Texans prefer to stay in Texas. They can have it, bugs, humidity, high taxes, high utility bills, and all.

It is funny how the only people who like Texas are Texans.
What's the point of bashing Texas to make your state look good. I'm not going to bash another city or state just to get my point across. There's no need to say that California has beaches, deserts, mountains, etc. WE ALL KNOW THAT!

Ummmmm...Every state has closed minded people. I'm sure California has them too. I know California has bugs and humidity. Are you serious about high utility bills.......that's laughable. I know my utilities aren't high. You have to remember that different parts of Texas do not have the same climate. In Dallas it can get really cold in the winter, but in Houston its mild.

Texas has deserts, mountains, beaches, swamps, forests, hills, and prairies. We have all kinds of land features in Texas. When people come to Texas, they think it is flat because most of the major cities were founded on prairies and grasslands. I know Texas isn't the best state in the country but it isn't no slouch.

I think California feels threated because Texas is becoming an economic powerhouse. Just look at the population growth, that's a clue. Places like the Metroplex and Greater Houston are growing at a alarming rate.

How can you say Texas isn't welcoming? Like I said to other people, have you been all over the State? Did you meet everyone? If you did then you can say "Texas isn't welcoming".

I didn't mean to write this much LOL..........

LOL...as if this is the ONLY thread where some Texans have called out other states. In addition, when Texas was 'down', it wished to be like CA (I remember all of those threads - "What cities in Texas are similar to those in CA" "Austin is like SF", "Houston is like LA")...then it liked all of the Californians moving in (I remember all of those threads...i.e. - "most of the license plates I see here in TX are from CA")...now CA is a horrible place?

LOL...Whatever...

And take a further look at Newsweek's list. Houston alone has 20 schools that made it- and I mean Houston proper, not including the ones in the metro area that serve affluent suburban districts. That's just as many as Los Angeles. San Antonio and Dallas have 15 and 10, respectively, which are each more than those bastions of blue-state enlightenment San Francisco and San Jose.

Like I said, Texas isn't the best in education, but it's certainly no bottom-feeder, despite some people's dogmatic belief that Texas is a third-world country compared to the Northeast and West Coast.
You're right, I saw a tuition grant but that looks like it was for graduates going to college....I thought it was for the school. So these schools are open to everyone?

Most of the "Texas scenery" is waaayyyys away from the cities (not like cities like Seattle, SF, Portland, LA, NY, Miami, Salt Lake City, San Diego where pretty scenery is very accessible), so the VAST majority of Texans will NEVER see "Texas Mountains" or any of "Texas scenery" so those photos are useless.

The only one semi-impressive were the "Texas Mountain" and ' Texas canoeing" and hardly anyone in Texas will ever see it because they're extremely far and away in the middle of nowhere so... I don't understand the point.

West is best, so please stop thinking Texas even comes close.

Why did you not respond to these posts???

You did not quote other Texans, you quoted me. You could have made your point without quoting me, but you highlighted my post so why are you surprised at getting a response from me???

You were just the last post at that point in the thread. Consider yourself lucky?

Still, Texas is doinig TERRIBLE on standardized tests like the SAT and ACT, which tells me not everyone is getting the full benefit of these top-rated schools. I do stand corrected about the private remark -- I saw a note about tuition grants and I thouht it was FOR the school, but it looks like it was for the graduates who got college grants. My bad, but I'm not going to read 40 articles thoroughly!
