Arizona State University is in Tempe, not to mention the University of Phoenix is based in Phoenix.

University of Washington is in Seattle, Seattle U is in Seattle as well.

What exactly is the point of this thread?

No national "name brand" universities come to mind in Denver, Detroit, Charlotte, Orlando, Tampa, or Memphis.

These places no doubt have universities in them, but I think if you asked a random person from another part of the country "What university is in Denver?" I don't think you'd get many quick/correct answers.

Phoenix has Arizona State, which is definitely pretty well-known. Seattle obviously has University of Washington, which is one of the bigger public universities, and a great one at that.

I think the whole country knows about Texas Christian University (TCU) after that stellar rose bowl performance. SMU is another well known school in DFW but the other fall little under radar nationally;

I think you'd have to add Dallas to that list...and even though there are good schools, maybe Atlanta. Atlanta has some very good schools, but I feel like it does it quietly...if that makes sense.

Yea but neither of those would be considered to be "great" universities. Same things goes for the Phoenix schools.

I think Georgia Tech and Emory are both pretty well known nationally, so Atlanta doesn't belong on this list.

Emory is a great school...but like I mentioned before, I feel like it's a quiet school. For example, a lot of people up here haven't heard about it unless they've got a friend/family member who attended. It doesn't get the recognition that other top schools get.

UDub in Seattle is nationally known, so is ASU in Phoenix.

Nice try but no. Not everyone watches the Rose Bowl, and that is just fleeting. TCU is not quite well known.

Yep. both good nationally known brands.

I would add San Antonio to the list. The largest University there is UT San Antonio, and the Best University I think is Trinity
