And when it comes to CT I think New Haven gets much more spotlight than Hartford does. Everyone's heard of New Haven for one reason or another, Yale or because it's closer to NY, but with Hartford no one really cares, there's nothing generally special it claims besides being the capital that most people around the country would actually care to know.

I miss the Whalers

Yeah, they became the Hurricanes, we got the Connecticut Whale though in the AHL, they were the Wolf Pack. They got the new name in honor of the Whalers.

A lot of times New Jersey cities get overlooked because there literally isn't enough space on the map between the words "Philadelphia" and "New York City."

In real life, I have heard the name numerous times but not so often. I technically enjoy watching Viva La Bam, possibly one of my Top 5 Favorite television shows, and Atlantic City is quite a popular destination on that show. I've gotten to see Atlantic City, and some parts look very rough around the edges but its a very small city too, and in my opinion the nice areas more than make up for it and it significantly redeems itself. The problem with Atlantic City from what I can gather is that it does NOT try to market itself as much as it possibly can.

In the internet age, there is absolutely an infinite possibility to market yourself at all costs, and I think its about high time that Atlantic City makes a larger name for itself. I would LOVE to see that city take off in every literal way possible and improve upon itself. That would be ideal.
I agree, though when NY legalized gambling and set up casinos in Yonkers, AC all went downhill from there. NYC is what pumped the tourism in AC in the first place, and now that Yonkers has casinos- AC shuddered.

The Seaside/Wildwood boardwalks gets more tourism from what I can tell- The AC boardwalk is half dead most days. It's a shame. Atlantic County however is one of the fastest growing counties in the north east, so maybe it has a better future ahead.

Anyway, I think the answer to this thread is New Haven. I was just there ALL DAY today at the Yale hospital. I ended up walking around snow covered city in the 15 degree weather to get a looks see. I liked the vibe, it wasn't that bad really (and I don't hear too many good things about the city besides Yale)- The pizza is phenomenal, and most people I came in contact with were very friendly.
Newark really gets the WORST hype out of ALL cities. It's really a shame, after living there for 6 months I just got the face of disgust after telling people that I reside in Newark (even though the area I lived in was ac really really nice). I mean it has done an incredible job in the past decade, it was #1 in the nation for violent crime reduction- There's also the Ironbound section with an incredible Portuguese/Spanish/Brazilian scene- They have the historic mansions knitted around Forest Hill, and the beautiful Branch Brook Park- None of these things matter to the people that land in Newark airport and see shipping crates, swamps, and smoky refineries. It was the most dangerous city in the nation in 1996.. It's been out of the top 20 for years now people. I think the only movie I can think of that took place in Newark was "New Jersey Drive"... Horrible representation. (good movie though)
If Newark could cut it's murder rate in half, the crime wouldn't even be that bad. Newark's other "crime rate" statistics (minus murders) are actually pretty normal-, and I thought the people in my neighborhood were wonderful. The city is just old, industrious, and has a VERY rough past- It gets little love.

- As far as Trenton.Hartford go.. They're just state capitals. They're not big, and they're pretty shabby. Not really forgotten, all they're good for is being the state capital.

You also forgot to mention Paterson- I hate that place, minus the Great Falls. Elizabeth is a given.. Even me, the dedicated NJian, doesn't know what to say about Elizabeth! It has the Jersey Gardens, I guess.
