Honestly L.A has NYC beat in a few categories so just based off of impact and influence alone,Los Angeles is tier #1
We're not saying it's pass New York but when people come to America they automatically wanna visit NYC & LA"
Those 2 cities are the powerhouses in America that everyone around the world has heard of.
Anything after those 2,it's Chicago not Philly
There are areas where every city can excel and be a better draw then New York, but again anyone who thinks LA and NYC are equals is delusional.
NYC, London, Paris, Hong Kong, Tokyo, and maybe 1 or 2 more are the global cities of the world. Then you LA and a few others in the next category.
New York is the finanical capital of the world, that alone steps on anything LA has. No throwing shade at LA, its a powerful city, but not New York.
How you feel when people say Philly and LA are equals is how I feel when you say LA and NYC are equals.

Outside of Downtown Philly, what's left to see ?
Obviously outside of Downtown Los Angeles you still have a gigantic world to explore.
There are dozens of interesting sites and neighborhoods outside of Center City... You must not be familiar with Philadelphia. University City is a perfect example.

It doesn't matter how you "feel". LA is a league above Philly and more on par with a NYC. LA is the entertainment capital of the world, and it could be argued the cultural capital of the world.
LA has suburban neighborhoods very close to DTLA like Boyle Heights
No I don't think so. LA is too big and bustling. Makes no difference if there are formerly suburban neighborhoods close to downtown. Philly has half empty row houses close to downtown.
About The only thing LA has that the Philly area doesnt is the combination of ocean/mountains together .
I can get over that. Not that big of a deal.
