Which has the better economy? What drives each state's economy? What are the flaws and perfections? Which one was greatly affected by the recession and why? I'm asking these questions because I'm doing a research paper comparing Texas's economy to another state's economy. Please, no bashing! Thanks for any contributions and POSTIVE feedback and cooperation. Also, when you choose a state, please tell WHY you choose it.
I will say though both states have similar industries, Texas is just a larger scale, plus it has the energy industry. Otherwise everything else is about the same, both states have nearly every industry.
So I do give Texas the advantage but it's nothing like a blowout in this regard.

Georgia has a more diverse economy. Texas has a diverse economy also, but Energy is still the main power, if it were it disappear, it would hurt Texas a lot. If any industry in Georgia disappeared, the state would better coup with the loss and move on very easily.
Georgia' weakness comes from international exposure in it's economy, its not as internationally based as Texas which probably has a Top 4 level international economy on a state wide basis.

Georgia, because of the industries that make up its economy. Banking took a hit, statewide government's took a hit because of state budget cuts and services, housing took a major hit. All these things hit Georgia immensely.
Texas weathered the recession rather nicely, mainly due to the large presence of trade industry, Medical services, & especially the energy industry.
Will someone please tell me how many jobs both states gained and lost since the recession. I have surfed the web for an hour trying to find data within the same timeframe for each state.
