I have been to Omaha, NE but have never been to Pittsburgh, PA, and would like to know if the rustic landscape of Pittsburgh is comparable to the idyllic, bucolic landscape of Omaha, NE. I have been to the rolling hills of Omaha, NE in person and was quite taken in personally and influenced by its verdant plains. I'm not sure if Pittsburgh has the same kind of scenery with the added benefit of offering a better city life for single millennials?

I'd start with photos on the internets.

Where does Portland fit in to this thread?

Pittsburgh is very hilly in and outside of the city, but it’s mostly forested. You probably won’t find a lot of the open rolling plains that you would find near Omaha.

I would like to gather more information about the pros and cons of living in Portland, such as the overall vibe, people, city life, etc., to compare with the other two and base that on how likely I am going to like it.

I have already been to Portland, OR but didn't venture too far out. The nature scenery was great in how much it stood out. But, it is different.

I think Omaha is a lovely city also. My sense is that its economy (with Warren Buffet etc) is growing quite a bit faster than Pittsburgh. On the other hand, I know Pittsburgh has Carnegie-Mellon and the University of Pittsburgh when add vibrancy to the city.

Of the 3 cities, I've only been to Portland and I really like it. It's 1.5 hours south of where I live so I've been there more than once. Great parks within the city and just outside the city limits as well. The food scene is really good too. Love the section of downtown that is exclusively setup for food trucks.
