San Jose hands down! The census will release SJ pop and it'll be below what the city has projected. It'll be start of a major downfall for this city. The downtown will die without redevelopment in a few years, and the high tech industry will go on another downward cycle and layoff people. The city will deteriorate to shell of former self.

Wow you guys all really need to chill-the-F-out. Its pretty clear the OP wasn't trying to make a huge bash Detroit thread, s/he was just asking exactly what s/he asked: What is going to be the next city to suffer a job market collapse and endure a long period of urban decay.

Any of us would be proud if our city made contributions to the world on the scale of Detroit's. It is one of the great American cities that is in dire need of support. We are ALL invested in its survival. Let's focus on how we can help vs. kicking them when they're down. It could be any of us next.

Most people say Birmingham is the way to becoming Detroit of the South, but as the famous saying goes "Opinions are like a-holes, everybody has to crap one out sometimes".

Thanks

I would love to visit Detroit someday. Detroit has a rich history and contributed a great amount to the US's identity.

I should have made that clear in the first post. I'm sorry that some people can't decipher.

San Jose growth has slow almost to a halt and should start shrinking or just stay the same. Silicon Valley is producing jobs in Oregon, New Mexico and other countries. Silicon Valley will cool off in the next few years, and San Jose is definitely the next Detroit of 21st century,
