My family and I are moving from the Saint Paul area and we have to choose between Tulsa and Oklahoma City for my works new plant. I want to know what city is better for a family and also has things to do in it for the weekends and just what city is better in general, thanks.
Last time i herd of anything fun in tulsa was.....Actually never. haha Id go with OKC. Sorry if im not much help.
Of those two, Tulsa is prettier but OKC is the better city. Tulsa has better shopping but OKC has better nightlife and concerts. OKC is also a short drive to Dallas.
IMO Tulsa is more family-oriented and as another poster mentioned, a more attractive city with great architecture and actual trees/greenery. With a population of around 400,000 it's not lacking in things to do.
If the city of Tulsa had OKC's vision and planning, it would be like Austin. It's got a lot of potential and they've done some good things but OKC is the city that has made the right decisions. Tulsa has lots of old money and pretty neighborhoods. OKC is the city that has been very proactive revitalizing downtown. Most people from each area tend to have strong preferences about each city.
Location: too horrible to describe but leaving soon

I've been going through the same thing between the two cities [actually between Edmond & Tulsa]. I have asked so many people who live in both and go there often. According to their reports, Tulsa is great. Beautiful, surrounded by water, thriving arts, best schools in the state, trees, etc. It will take us a year or so to get out of where we are but Tulsa/Jenks/Bixby/Broken Arrow will be where we end up. I probably can't help much but I have been investigating the schools; if you'd like any links. OKC is still close enough to visit on the weekends if what people are saying about the nightlife, though, and that's your cup of tea. The best of luck to you and your family!
I'd go with Tulsa. You mentioned you are moving with your family. I lived in the Tulsa suburbs with my family for about 5 years when I was younger. It was actually a great place to grow up as a young kid. I haven't been back there for like 10 years now but from what I've heard it's only grown up more out there. There are quite a few nice lakes around, parks, stores, everything is easy to get to, good schools, etc.
Tulsa is certainly nicer looking than OKC, however OKC probably has a bit more to do. OKC suburbs are also pretty nice. Edmond, Moore, Norman have pretty good schools I hear, especially Edmond. I wouldn't be the person to ask as I just moved here but the twin cities are a lot nicer than the OKC metro. One thing you will love is the warmer weather!
