Here is a walkscore comparison between Boston and Los Angeles. To make it fair to Boston, I'm only counting areas within Central L.A. (58 sq miles) as defined by the Los Angeles Times:
Central L.A. - Mapping L.A. - Los Angeles Times.

Otherwise, Los Angeles would crush Boston in total numbers. Keep in mind that Boston is generally regarded as one of the most urban cities in America and finished 3rd among U.S. cities in walkability:

Residents Above 90

Boston: 128,406
Los Angeles: 138,692

Above 80

Boston: 249,353
Los Angeles: 560,958

Above 70

Boston: 484,306
Los Angeles: 749,391

L.A. = Atlanta? Sure thing, buddy.
Do you yourself actually walk around LA?

Good. I'd rather hear someone's personal jsutifications for a city being walkable than a computer generated formula.

Wow. What a walkable lifestyle. Now we all know why LA constantly tops the list as one of the world's most walkable and transit-oriented citiies.

NOLA is one of the most pleasant cities I've ever walked around imo. I got blisters from walking so much.

Plus its flat, but by foot is the best way in NOLA - so much to see at low speed

All the time. A good portion of my errands are done on foot. I have pretty much everything nearby, even the gym. I also drive, and love the convenience it provides me.

A mile from my apartment is the Old Pasadena area, which looks like this:

It ain't Hollywood, but I have no complaints.
