What are the main cities that dominate the most parts of the U.S.?
(Combination of Culture,historically,financially,politically, Business)
These are the MAIN CITIES with influence beyond the border of their states:
on a percentage basis how much of these cities influences your city.If you feel your city influenced LESS than 49% just put how much you feel your city influence others outside its city limits.
For example:
Atlanta I feel it does more influencing than it receives influencing So I rate ATL as 80% outwardly influencing.
Atlanta is 5%influenced by NYC 5%LA and 10%D.C.
Lets say I lived in Gary Indiana. Then I would say Gary is influenced 90% by Chicago
The rest of my list goes
CHI 78%
NYC,90% outwardly
LA,90% outwardly
D.C.75 Outwardly
CHI,70% Outwardly
DAL,65%
ATL,80%Outwardly
San Fran 80%
Boston 70%
Philly 55%
Charlotte 20% outwardly. but influenced 60% Atlanta,20% D.C.,10%NYC,10%L.A.
Does NYC have more influence than L.A.?Chicago?Is NYC influenced felt in L.A. and vice versa?
When I lived in Delaware ,Philly had a greater influence on Northern Delaware but in Southern Delaware it was all Baltimore. In fact most of Maryland seem to be influenced more so by Baltimore more than D.C.
Pittsburgh influences a tri-state area and a good portion of PA. The nearest other large city is Cleveland which has 0% influence. I doubt that we are influenced much by any other major cities.

Actually the Burgh influences quad-state region...PA, OH, WV, MD....some might even say parts of WNY.

Cleveland has 0% influence? So northern half of Ohio isn't influenced by Cleveland? Maybe I'm not grasping this whole idea?

I would say it is split. I think areas like Howard County, Fredrick, Annapolis take influence from both. Eastern Shore seems more Baltimore influenced. Obviously southern Maryland wouldn't have much Baltimore influence.
Detroit influences nearly all of Michigan, NW Ohio, and to a lesser extent NE Indiana and SW Ontario.
It is influenced by Chicago the most and to a lesser extent New York and maybe Toronto. Of course Washington and Lansing have political/regulatory influence.
Here is a 'sphere of influence' map I found. It was created based on the opinions of participants (i.e., not official) and subject to change with new updates, but some of the outcomes are interesting.
I'm sure this has been done before, just not worded this poorly.
